Subject:Event shifting while trimming/overlapping...?

Hi everyone, Longtime Sony Vegas user, recent Acid 7.0 user. Trying to figure out why all of a sudden my events are shifting on the timeline when I trim an event or overlap two events to make a crossfade. You can see it happening as I pull an event's beginning, or pull a preceding event's edge later in the timeline to make a crossfade....the later event jumps in/out of time. It's behaving as though I have ripple editing turned on, which I do not...besides, this is similar behaviour, but not the exact same thing. In Vegas, you can trim an event or overlap events and it makes a simple crossfade, but the events do not shift their position on the timeline, unless of course you have ripple editing turned on. I'm still trying to understand the event behavior in general as opposed to Vegas. Another example of an issue I have is, let's say you've recorded a vocal track for an entire song. Then you want to cut a section from the 3rd chorus and paste it into the first two choruses....when you paste it, you end up seeing the wrong portion of the event (not just the section you've cut out, but maybe some part of that event that had occured earlier on the timeline). Don't know if I've explained that in the best way, but beyond the above issues, this program has crashed so many times, under different circumstances, that I don't even know where to begin. I don't have any problems running Vegas Pro 8.0 on the same system with the same plugins. My feeling is that some/most of the Acid crashes are MIDI related....perhaps a soft synth issue. The only reason I use ACID is because of the MIDI recording/editing...I SO wish they would just incorporate that into Vegas. Sorry for rambling, but if anyone can help....primarily with the first issue of events shifting on tracks, I would really appreciate it.
