I am evaluating which DAW I want to start using and have it down to Acid Pro & Sonar ( Cubase can't be bothered to give out a 30 day eval ). I am a Sony Vegas user so Acid has a clear advantage to me, plus I was able to get it up and running in less then an hour, I am still having issues with Sonar after a day of mucking about. With the Acid Pro demo I downloaded several free VST Instruments and effects and have tried to use them. Everything seems to work fine for a while and then I get an out of memory error on my machine ( which has 8 gb of ram ). My guess is that these are 32 bit VSTs and they don't play well on a 64 bit OS. Can anyone confirm this and tell me if there is a work around. I built this machine specifically for doing video and sound editing and I really want to use some of the VSTs I've run across. Many thanks, Harry Message last edited on7/9/2009 5:45:14 AM byHPluta. |

I think I have it narrowed down to either Tapeworm or NuBiLe going into SpinnerLE. I have both of those loaded on the piece I am playing with, I have also been playing with Cygnus-SF and Glen Stegner's Arppe2600va and MinimogueVA. Message last edited on7/9/2009 2:47:08 PM byHPluta. |
