Have you unchecked "Adjust size and quality for optimal playback"?

This is a new feature in Vegas Pro 9. To disable it, right-click within the Preview window and un-check "Adjust size and quality for optimal playback".

@bops,
Please forgive me if I've missed something obvious, but is there a way to kill playback in the preview window when you display it on 2nd monitor?

Seems a waste of resources & is a slight bit distracting.

Yes there is. It's in Preferences on the Preview Device Tab. It's the checkbox for "Display frames in video preview window during playback".

This has been there for a number of versions and I think it was probably added along with the ability to use a Windows secondary display.

My dyslexia shows up again -- Thanks Rob ;?P

To me that meant during render -- never occurred to me otherwise. Up till a few days ago I was still running previews on a TV monitor to watch colors, & never had reason to turn it off.
