My SoundForge 9 stutters sometimes during recording. I think it's when I am opening another application or saving a file in another application or something like that. But that should not be a problem. I did a search but didn't find anything useful in the forum here. Are there any settings I can adjust easily?

My PC is an emachines T5088 (Pentium 4) with 2G RAM, sound card is Emu1212m. OS is Vista Home Basic.

If you're a tweak geek, you can try setting a higher thread priority for your sound card and / or recording program.

Other than that, I don't know of much you could do. Most of us are careful not to multitask while capturing or recording, and turn off as many background applications as possible.

Exit all unnecessary program and services. Anti-virus, Anti-spyware, screen savers, ect, ect, ect. Nortons anti-virus utilities is especially well known to cause problems with DAWs and NLEs .

In addition, I take the extra precaution of shutting down the network / internet connection, just to avoid the temptation!

I've ruined a couple of renders by thinking I could sneak online . . .
