1,001 Sound Effects

megabit wrote on 6/18/2009, 11:15 AM
I went for the V9 upgrade along with the Audio Studio as the freebie of choice. It's said to contain the 1,001 Sound Effects, but I have no idea where they are...

Just how to enable / use them?

If I recall another post, the download doesn't have them. They're hiding in a folder on the CD.

Correct, the 1,001 Sound Effects are not included in this free downloadable version. These are only available with the stand-alone version of Sound Forge Audio Studio.

You can, however, purchase the 1,001 Sound Effects download for only $10.95 USD:

Fair enough (though the Vocal Eraser licence IS included in the promo)...

But frankly, I'm disappointed. It should have been mentioned the downloadable version of Audio Studio doesn't contain effects - I'd have chosen the Sound Effects Series instead :(

Oh, well...

Are the 1,001 ones worth the extra bucks?

They're good for sweetening videos and theatrical stuff.
Not a lot of "gee whiz" effects though.

Thanks for the correction. Yes, the Vocal Eraser is included with the free SFAS. I've edited my post above.

If your interested in hearing some of the sound effects, I noticed there are some samples on the page linked above.

In my opinion, Sound Forge Audio Studio is a much better value than the free Sound Effects sampler disc option. The sampler disc only contains about 200 sound effects.

1,001 sound effects for $11 is a good value.

I use Sound Forge 9 but selected Sound Forge Audio Studio to get the Vocal Eraser. Does the Vocal Eraser work in Sound Forge 9 if I do not install Sound Forge Audio Studio?

Yes. It will show up in your FX Favorites menu.

Hi megabit!

Am I so old that being a true Foley artist has gone out of style? For an explanation, please see:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foley_artist

Sound effects that you create yourself are often better than anything that you can download and/or buy. Fool the mind; fool the ear...

When I was designing sound for a children’s musical, Pinocchio I think, I remember telling a lighting designer that the BBC sound effects set (big bucks!) sounded British to me. He was incredulous that sound effects could have a nationality. I stand by my statement.

As I am about to journey to the UK for Grad school, perhaps my next foleys will sound American to my schoolmates.

PassTheHat,

I agree, they do sound British.....

do any of the 1001 effects go low enough to get into LFE range?
