Subject:Different waveform in one-shot and disk-based. Why?

I noticed that when I changed a track's status from disk-
based to one-shot, the waveform changes quite noticeably.
The sound doesn't change at all, but I'm just wondering if
anyone knows why this occurs. It seems rather odd.

that's because when you have the sound looped, ACID's pitch
and time stretch function changes the actual waveform so
that it will sound the same when sped up or slowed down.
This naturally will change the look of the waveform. When
you select one shot it basically turns these features off
and you hear the sound as it was recorded for the most
part. Not tempo matched. Now I could be wrong but that is
my understanding of it. Email me if you know otherwise or
if you have a question.
