Hello - I had no idea where to voice a complaint since this loop cd was created by a 3rd party...but I was very disappointed in the sound quality of the loops on the DRUM TOOLS loops for Acid cd. I was surprised to hear how overcompressed the overall kits are - particularly the snare sounds...some of the oneshots are edited in such a way that the decay or sustain has been chopped off the end of the wave file. In a full mix this doesn't really matter, but what about in a sparse mix? Who wants a snare sound that sounds over-gated? And - while this is purely subjective - many of the performances are static, pedestrian, and uninteresting. But that comes down to taste. Now, I realize, I may sound like a complete jackass, after all...someone or some people spent many hours recording and producing these drum sounds. But my point is...they didn't do a very good job. Specifically in capturing the true essence and resonance of acoustic drums. One area in which the producers did succeed was in the brushes section...some quality sounds there, airy brush sounds...solid kick...good performances. It makes me wonder what happened to the rest... john chicago, il |

I agree, the loops are rather pedestrian, but keep in mind they were performed by the drummer for Roxette, not exactly known for cutting edge sounds. But, I think there's a lot of useable drums in there, and the percussion instruments are excellent. If you think the Drum Tools loops are bad, you should hear the RADS drum loops. There's an echo or flam or something on the snare off the beat, which makes every loop on the CD sound messy and cluttered. They should have recorded the kick and snare seperately and offered them as separate loops. After all, kick and snare are recorded on seperate tracks in the studio anyway. Plus, this way, you can add reverb to the snare while leaving the kick dry. Again, like it's done in a studio. Very disappointing. I don't even touch the RADS CD anymore. Dr. Terylene |
