I'm a novice with this product (have only used it to trim music and fade in and out)....i need to edit a song for a slide show (remove a "bad" word)...is there a way to do that without having it just be a blank space? Like keep the music but remove the vocal? Is this possible and if so, is it hard to do??? Help!!!

Can you find a sample of the same music elsewhere that doesn't have the voice along with it? If so, copy that and paste it on top of the bad word.

A topic that comes up regularly - do a search on "remove vocals".

The short answer is that removing vocals from an entire track to creat a karaoke backing track is generally near impossible. The consumer version of SF contains a "vocal eraser" plug-in which attempts to do this. The technique can be used in most audio editors - you will find details in the email threads. However, you will be lucky if it works for your particular case.

For a single word, there is a much better chance of getting a decent result. Chien's suggestion of finding a similar piece of audio elsewhere in the song (maybe an instrumental break) to paste over the offending word is a good one. Preferably copy an exact bar or multiple of beats and match it carefully so you don't stuff up the rhythm. You may need to crossfade the edges to get a seamless transition.
