So I'd like to start a thread about crashing SF8 or SF9 I don't really care, both crash doing the most simple things. I've been told it's driver issues, but I have 3 computers each with different sound cards. Open a 30 second wav file.. 20sec 10 sec.. whatever, as long as there's some time to it. Open up Graphic EQ. Ensure that realtime is on. Add some nodes, and tweak. SF will crash in a heap after a little while. Can anyone else reproduce this? |

I assume you don't mean a few minutes of just having the EQ window open, right? Are you previewing or applying when it crashes? I've got a 30 second file on the timeline, loop set on, real-time set on, and previewing continuously while tweaking the settings. 8 minutes and still counting, no crash yet. How long is a "little while"? I just applied the effect. No crash. |

I do have SF9 pop up an error message every once in a while that references something wrong with the sound I/O, asks if I want to see details, and lets me exit. Doesn't fit the mold of crash in a heap. I've found out that it's caused by my Edirol UA1000 sound card glitching due to dirty AC power. This could be the op's problem. All I do is power off then on the UA1000 and all is well. I have to wonder, even with the op having 3 different systems (didn't know you could put SF on more than 1 machine at a time), if they're underpowered in system resources (cpu, ram, etc.). He really should provide more info on his systems; his system profile is not filled out and we need more info on exactly what he's got going on.
