V9: QT Preview chokes...am I alone?

(Edit: Preview = external preview via firewire for external monitor.)

Boris Red 4, AfterEffects CS3, and Ultra rendered Quicktime files seem to choke on the Vegas 9 timeline. This is after (approximate wording) "optimize size and quality for best playback" or something like that is turned off.

They play fine in Vegas 8c at Best/Full quality. With Vegas 9, I end up having to CTRL+ALT+DEL out of Vegas. Chokes on all preview qualities in Vegas 9.

My WinXP system has worked great for years. Only change on this issue is installing Vegas 9. Glad I left Vegas 8 installed.

Anyone else have this, or am I the only one?

You're not alone. In SV8 if preview was jerky you dropped down to Preview auto. However with SV9 ALL previews are jerky.

I'm using AVCHD and I think it's the AVCHD decompres engine thats slow.

System specs: i7 2.66, 6GB 1333Mhtz RAM, 250GTS graphics adapter. XP64 SP2.

You are not the only one Kentwolf,
Its a known issue with the new release of Vegas that will most likely
be cleared up by the 9.0a update.

you know there must be countless threads about this problem scattered all over this forum (i started one sometime ago), and yet no one's answered my very simple question - how come the beta testers and scs didn't notice the problem?

i mean, it's pretty bloody obvious to anyone using 9 in the real world?
