Subject:NR in SF 5.0

I'd like to be able to add my original versions of SF noise reduction, specifically click removal to SF
5.0. Can I simply load the original CD that I have and have SF 5.0 recognize it, as my old 4.0 does?

I would think so. I have NR 2.0 and it shows up in both 4.5
and 5.0. I think it is DirectX so it should be usable in
most programs capable of using DirectX plug-ins.

Conversely, the new effects that SF included in 5.0 are
usable from 4.5 as well which makes me feel quite a bit
better about buying the $99 "upgrade". I get the speed and
stability of 4.5 -and- all the effects and tools from 5.0 -
and- the ability to launch CD Architect from the main menu.

Hello,

This is correct. All the XFX Direct-X plug-ins are
included with Sound Forge 5.0, and they will work with any
other program that supports Direct-X.

I too would like to use my Noise Reduction in 5.0, but it
does not show up under the Tools menu. 4.5 is on the same
machine, at NR shows up fine. What do I need to do to get
NR to show up in 5.0? Also, how can you tell what version
of NR you are using? (or any plug in for that matter). When
I right click on the window bar in the NR plug-in, it
says "Noise Reduction Plug-In for Sound Forge" "Version
4.0". But I thought the latest version of the NR is 2.0.

Thanks

Hello,

Noise Reduction 4.0 is actually a much older version of the
plug-in which came before version 1.0. I know it sounds
strange, but 4.0 is an older version which was a plug-in
for Sound Forge 4.0 and will not be recognized by Sound
Forge 5.0. You can upgrade your version of Noise Reduction
to version 2.0 for $99.00. In addition to Direct-X
support, the latest version also has better noise reduction
algorithms and three new tools for vinyl restoration,
clipped peak restoration, and click and crackle removal.
