Subject:how to record from mic?

hi

i'm new to sound forge, can someone tell me
how i can record from a microphone?
i can record from cd-rom player but unable
to record from a mic. do i have to adjust
any setting in sound forge or anywhere else
in the window control panel?

Hello,

Open the Windows volume control by double clicking the
yellow speaker icon by your computer's clock. Once the
play control window comes up, go to the Options menu and
select "Properties". Select "Recording" under "Adjust
Volume For" and where it says "Show the Following Volume
Controls", make sure everything is selected. Now
click "OK" and you will get a recording control window.
Under each volume control is a box marked "Select". Make
sure that the one under microphone is selected and that the
volume is turned up about three quarters of the way. If
the signal is too loud or quiet when you record it, you can
come back to this window and adjust the volume as necessary.
