Alls, I can say to everyone unhappy with sound forge, is go back 7 months when they discontinued CD architect and read my posts in that forum. I predicted that the discontiuation of CD architect would eventually mean the death of Sound Forge. You can see that more relevant by the $99.00 promotion and lack of new features for a new release....but hold on don't spend that much, I'll predict even further. Soon Sound forge will be in every Best Buy around the country for $59.95 and Sound Forge XP will be discontinued. Then I further predict Vegas will come bundled with sound forge, to compete with Pro Tools, which already comes with a stereo editor for it's multitrack program. The Flag ship is sinking!!! as predicted here first!!! One other note since I brought up the "P" word (ie Protools). You can download "Protools Free v2.0 from digidesign's website. It has 8 tracks of non-destructive editing along with midi-tracks. It also allows the use of directX plugins, and comes with it's own plugins, and a mixer section...in fact it has 24bit file support.....my point is, that it does everything Sound Forge v5.0 will, and the price...."Free" Now if I was a "New" user, I think I would be more attracted to start using Protools free, over paying a dime for Sound Forge that no longer supports CD architect and thus makes it totally useless as a redbook mastering program. It has more features!!! Me personally, I don't like Protool's MAC based user interface, but many people do, so I guess it's all what you get use to. Brian Franz |
