Delete old Vegas components?

It seems that every time I upgrade my Vegas software, I get other programs added to my computer that Vegas needs. I'm wondering if anyone knows if I need to keep them all, or can I just keep the most recent version?

The programs in question, which are all in WinXP Professional's Add/Remove programs tab, are:

Sony Media Manager 2.0
Sony Media Manager 2.2

Microsoft NET Framework 1.1
Microsoft NET Framework 2.0
Microsoft NET Framework 3.0

Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable
Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable x869.0.30729.17

Adobe Flash Player 10 Active X
Adobe Flash Player 9 Active X

(I don't know if the Visual C++ or Flash was updated by Vegas or not, but any knowledge anyone can share would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Dave

Hi,

you should not touch the NET and C++ installations as they will/might be needed by other applications as well. Additionally, the different versions do not interfere with each other. In fact some applications might need the old NET Framework 1.1 while others might need version 3.x. As far as I know the same is valid for the C++ runtimes.

Regarding Media Manager it could as well be that there's only one installation but two entries in the registry file. You can find out by starting regedit and navigate to the following entry (cannot be more precise as I'm not sitting at my Vegas machine):

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Uninstall

Under Uninstall search for the Media Manager entry (or entries). Within that entry there should be an "Uninstall String", besides of which there'll be the path to the uninstall directory. In case you've got two Media Manager entries both pointing to the same directory you can simply delete the complete registry entry of the older one and it won't be presented to you anymore in the Add/Remove dialog.

In case you've really got two different Media Managers running (i.e. two different folders) you could uninstall the old version but I'm rather sure that you've got to do a re-install of the new one thereafter.

Regarding Flash Player I don't know, sorry.

Cheers
