Subject:Acid Pro 7 on Parallels 4.0?

I have a new Macbook Pro which is partitioned for windows Xp sp3...

I am thinking instead of bootcamp, to use Parallels 4.0 to run inside the OSX leopard and run Acid Pro.

Is anyone doing this? is it stable? and will my M-Audio Fast Track Pro run ok through parallels?

Also when running via Parallels 4.0, does the windows side "inside" OSX still need firewalls/virus-scan etc or is it protected via the OSX that its running inside as a program?

I dont want to use the internet or anyhting on the XP side, but do want to set up a network with the XP partition, so it can see my other Mac's in the studio via a Netgear Router (would this still get on the internet?)

Thanks

While Parallel's is really cool, the audio and MIDI limitations make it almost unusable with ACID or other audio apps.

Basically you are stuck with mapper mode and no external MIDI i/o. Latency is very high.

This might have changed, as I have not updated Paralllels.

Yeah it is on v4 now so wondered if it was any better...

If not what about VM Ware Fusion as an alternative for Acid Pro?

Do you run Acid on a Mac? and if so do a majority do it via straightforward bootcamp?

I did not find any mention of ASIO or MIDI support with Parallels 4.

I have never used VM Ware Fusion.

I use boot camp which just makes my Mac Pro (and MacBook Pro) a PC. I have no issues with anything I throw at it. A great PC.

Definitely need to test the MacBootcamp PC. Did you guys tried Win7 on it ? I'd love to have a stable 16gb-of-ddr PC running AP7...

I have Win7 (64 and 32) installed on a Mac Pro using Bootcamp.

I cannot say I have tested extensively, but I have had no problems other than those associated to Win7 - and those appear to be minor.
