Subject:New to version 7c - question

I recently upgraded from version 4 Pro to 7c Pro and after downloading and opening "LoFreak earcandy project.acd", I get an error msg.: An error occurred.....The Soft Synth plug-in "Kompakt Sony ACID Pro edition" was not found or did not load properly.

Is this not a part of of the ACID program or must I purchase it separately?

Thanks.

Bob

You mean Acid Pro 7c Bob?

I think Kompakt came free with AP6 Pro, so maybe it's assumed that plug-in would already be there from that previous version? Not sure its part of AP7's content (just guessing here...I don't find any descriptions of AP7 that mention Kompakt, but AP6 does)

Yes, I did indeed mean version 7c. That's what happens when I try to 'multi-task'. Strange if it was part of version 6 and needed for some of the sample .acd files that it is not included in version 7.

Thanks for the reply.

LoFreak earcandy project.acd
Where did you get this project from?

Is Kompakt Sony ACID Pro edition installed?

Is Kompakt Sony ACID Pro edition appearing in the ACID Plug-In Manager under Synths?

Look in the "failed" folder?

Is ACID Pro 7 looking in the right location on your disks for VSTs?

Peter

Thanks for the reply:

The "LoFreak Ear Candy project.acd" file MUST have come from the "Get Media" site as I have NEVER gotten acid files from anywhere else.

As far as "Is Kompakt Sony ACID Pro edition installed?", probably not. I went from Acid Pro 4 to Acid Pro 7. I just assumed that if something was included in a previous version, then Sony would not remove it just add features to the new version. (My mistake?)

"Is ACID Pro 7 looking in the right location on your disks for VSTs?"
Yes, everything is set to default install locations - I never change anything and it has found other VSTs.

Thanks again,
Bob

Bob, have you looked in the plugin manager itself?

AP7 has a new plugin interface and I think new way of dealing with them.

In the "view" option at top click on "plugin manager". To the best of my knowledge there's a few new options there that may help figure out if vst's didn't install correctly. When Peter mention the "failed" folder this is where it would appear. "Ignored" is one too. I had one or two vsts appear there at first install of AP7 myself.

And I'm assuming I was wrong about the Kompakt AP6 to AP7 thing if Peter posted what he did. Peter?

The bundles we include with each version release changes. We do not include previous bundles with new releases.

OK. Nevermind then. :-)

(Maybe you learned something about the plugin manager though...or not! ;-) )

Thank you both (lofreequency and Peter). It was not what I had hoped to hear, but it answers my question.
