Subject:flexible tempo sync? Posted by: rjshama Date:5/18/2009 11:54:52 AM Is there a way in ACID to sync loops to a recorded piece of music that doesn't follow a set tempo? I would like to record fingerpicked guitar parts into ACID, not worry about playing to a click track, and then be able to add loops up to that guitar part that would sync up regardless of whether my timing drifts. If someone can point me in the right direction I would be much oblidged. Thx!

In order for the loops to sync to a recording, the recording must be tempo mapped otherwise there is no time information to work from. A work around, albiet work intensive: If you record as a beat mapped file, you can go into the properites of the recording and set up a tempo map for the recording. This will provide ACID with the information it needs to stretch your recording to fit a fixed tempo. You would then enter tempo markers on the ACID time that align with the tempo of your recording. This would allow the recorded part to play as you recorded it and permit you to tempo match loops to your part. As long as your original recording does not contain constantly changing tempos, you can achieve reasonable results. Peter
