My boxed upgrade version did include a new serial number for both Vegas 9 and DVDA Pro 4.5/5.0. If you got the download version, did they send you new serial numbers for both in the confirmation ?

In the confirmation email for the download version from the SCS store I received a serial number for Vegas 9 and for DVDA 5. I now have 2 licenses for DVDA 5.

I was wondering about this also. We now have two licenses for DVDA.Will there be any issues in the future if I dont install DVDA again (same version) and enter the new serial?
Not a big problem, just wondering.

I received the email with a new serial number, but when I go to my account software list I only see 1 DVDA5 serial number. I was expecting to see 2 DVDA5 serial numbers.

Sony allows you to sell your previous version... which would not be possible if they didn't give you new license numbers for this new V9 and DVDa5 set.

Your serial numbers do not appear in My Software until you register the product I believe. Well at least that's how it works if you buy the boxed version.

"Your serial numbers do not appear in My Software until you register the product I believe."

Works the same for downloaded versions. The serial number does not appear until you register the software.

Correct. In fact, just activating it isn't enough. Registering it is what puts the information in My Software.

However, if you don't want to go to the effort of installing and activating the new serial number, there's a spot at the bottom of the My Software page that lets you register a serial number all by itself, without installing & activating it.

Is there anything special that needs to be done to unregister software so it can be sold to somone else?

Contact customer support and tell them you're transferring the license to someone else. They'll deactivate your serial number. Then have that person contact customer support and they'll be issued a new serial number.

BUT, if you have used the old S/N for an upgrade, then the buyer will not be able to use it for another upgrade later.

"BUT, if you have used the old S/N for an upgrade, then the buyer will not be able to use it for another upgrade later."

Absolutely correct. Your buyer is NOT allowed to use this 'used' purchase for the base of an upgrade and they should be informed of this. The next version that they purchase will have to be at the FULL version price.

Makes sense - still - once 9 is fully up to speed with a revision or 2 - there won't be much point in keeping 8 - and it's a usable program for many folks - and it would defray the cost of the upgrade somewhat.
