Subject:For Rednroll: further questions regarding noise reduction from wjw

I tried everything that you suggested, and got pretty good results on the sample tape I used at
about 10dB.
However, there were a couple of settings that I couldn't find in my Noise Reduction plug in. (yes, I
did check the SF help available before asking- being, as already stated, a 'novice moron', as opposed
to a 'complete idiot')
I seem to have the 4.a noise reduction. I didn't order our version of SF, someone else involved
with the project did. Maybe there's a better noise reduction plug in that I don't know about that we
should get?
At any rate, I don't see anyplace to set the 'Mode' for noise reduction. Also, I don't see anyplace to
set the Noise Bias.
I've checked out the Help contents and found some sample examples that I'll look into, but I didn't
see anything listed as a 'quick start'.
Help with any of these annoying questions will be greatly appreciated.
Your novice moron buddy,
wjw

Sorry, I didn't mean to incenuate that you were a moron, I
know how frustrating audio applications can be, especially
when you're first getting started. I occassionally try
doing some audio editing on Cubase VST and after 2 hours of
trying to do simple things on that program, I'm ready to
spout off to the world also. I believe someone at Sonic
Foundry will have to answer your question, probaby Ted
Hoch. About a month ago, I did see something about Noise
Reduction v4.0, but I didn't see any additional features
added over the v2.0 that I have been using. Again, this
looks like a Sonic Foundry marketing issue to confuse the
consumer. Maybe there's 2 different versions, one that's a
Pro-premium plugin and one with less parameters for
consumers, that would be my guess. I'm using the "Noise
Reduction" direct X plugin Version 2.0 and it has all the
features that I mentioned to you, plus a vinyl restoration
plugin and,a Click and Crackle remover, and a quick start
guide. You can probably look under the "Products" section
of this website and have a good chance at figuring it out
also.
