Color Correction and Preview

What am I missing?

In Vegas 8c, I'm doing a lot of color balancing for 2 cameras building a color mod for 1 camera to match the other.

I'm bringing in footage from 2 cams in to vegas. I then crop it so the track 1 image shows on the left in preview and track2 shows on the right. I'm using talking heads for skin tones and some other color samples so I'm able to crop each HD frame to mainly see each head, one on left and one on right in preview.

When I'm color correcting a clip, I'd really like to see the whole frame corrected sometimes in preview. Is there a setting for this?

If not, can anyone suggest a quick way to render just one frame and have it put in a new top track on the time line?

thanks in advance......

Use the clipboard.

Int he video preview window, click on the clipboard icon to save something.

Under the half moon icon, there are options that let you see what kind of preview you get. You can do split screen comparisons through that.

Not entirely clear on what is meant by this. You can use the Split Screen view (half moon button that GlennChan mentioned) to toggle between pre- and post- effect. You can also adjust this to bypass the left half, right half, or all of the preview window.

Use the Save Snapshot to File button. It will save a JPEG (at your current Preview size/resolution) and add it to Project Media.

I never hit the circle/ball icon after picking left, right, or full. I laugh sometimes when I do something as a work around cause I can't figure it out rationally or through the manual.

Now, if someone could show me a way to make 1 hour renders in 5 minutes, I'd really be happy.

Anyway thanks for setting me straight.
