Hi, Using Sound Forge 9e. Is there any way to configure it so that the output (save as) folder is automatically the same as the input folder? Example: I keep all my songs in separate folders. I would like to open a specific song folder, edit the song, then "save as" and I want it to be automatically saved into the same folder as it was opened from. The problem is that SF9 remembers the last folder I used from the previous "save as" and will save to this folder unless I navigate to a new folder. This need to navigate to the new folder is a big time waster for me, especially when I forget to re-navigate and later have to go searching for my lost song. Thank you for your help, MIke D. |

I don't think there's any way to change this behavior (unless it can be done in internal preferences). Sometimes I love it, such as when I'm saving files to a folder on the network and I don't have to navigate to it every dang time. Sometimes I hate it, such as [what you said]. I'm about 60:40 positive. |

Drives me up a wall - I hate what Sony did with this. Every other Windows and Mac program I use when you do a save it saves to the folder the file resides in, not one used from a previous save. The only time, normally one should have to drill for a folder when doing a save is when the file is created and doesn't exist anywheres but computer ram, or when doing a save as and you can change the save location from where it exists (and in that case the save as window usually opens in the location the files resides to begin with). Maybe it'll get fixed in Soundforge 10. Jack |

And worse still how it's always in My Documents - the last place I'd ever put audio ! Better (preferably confuigurable) behaviour has been asked for for YEARS. geoff Message last edited on4/29/2009 2:04:37 PM byGeoff_Wood. |

Yes, I always thought there should be a Preferences setting where you could either set a default directory, or "last directory saved to". |

Anybody know the meanings of the values for the filters? Anybody know how to unlock the Default column so values can be entered? |

I don't see that "Internal" tab in SF 9.0e. What version are you using? |

Tried it - on my system at the time I did a 'save as' it came up with the C:\my documents\xxxx in the 'save as' window (I don't remember where I did my last save or save as in SF). I saved the file to the root directory of my g drive. Closed down Soundforge (I run 9c); opened another .wav file in SF and did a save as and it went to the last saved location which was the root directory of my g drive (G:\). I did the shift+preferences and checked the entry in the window that came up and it had changed to G:\ which is the root directory of my G drive. So this means the entry in the table changes dynamically according to your last saved directory and even if you could change it it would change on it's own accord to the last saved directory. Jack |
