I had to rebuild my machine and re-install everything. I went ahead and installed Pro 7.0c (was running 7.0b). Anyway, I am getting the following error when opening up my projects The Soft Synth plug-in "Kompakt Sony ACID Pro edition" was not found or did not load properly. I went to my VST plugins and it shows as being available. I right-clicked on it and selected "Reset Name" but that didn't get me around the error either. Any ideas? |

Update: I uninstalled and re-installed the VST. That did the trick. I do notice one thing different though. There is now a vendor listed in the Soft Synth list (when adding a synth) for this VST. When I was having problems, the vendor name (Native Instruments) was blank. Message last edited on4/11/2009 1:24:49 PM byStephenM. |

Update #2 I noticed that other plugins are giving me problems, and the common thread between all of them is that there is no "vendor" tied to the plugin (for whatever reason). The VST is loading properly if I add it as a soft-synth, but if I have a prior project (created before my rebuild), I'm getting the "can't find a VST" error. For grins, I created a new project, added one of the "problem" VSTs, saved it, then re-opened it with no error. It is just affecting projects I made prior to rebuilding my machine (and using 7.0c vs 7.0b). Out of curiosity, does anyone know where the plugin vendor name is being stored? I searched the registry and didn't find it. Is it being stored in the MSSQL database? |

Update #3 Figured it out. I was having problems with YellowTools' Independence Free VST. No vendor name was showing in the plugin list in ACID. I had to remove the DLL, start up Acid to force ACID to put it in the "unavailable" folder, then I moved the DLL back... did a scan of my VST folder, and the plugin was re-added WITH the vendor name. Now my prior project opens fine. I've have now done it three times and the common thread is always the vendor name missing. Does 7.0c check the vendor name when loading plugins? (I don't recall this problem with 7.0b) Message last edited on4/11/2009 6:35:30 PM byStephenM. |
