Subject:How to assign audio fx (eq) to sections of mix?

Hi there,

I am new to Acid and am stilling trying to learn the software. I am planning to put together a mixtape with the tool and would like to know if there is a way to define audio fx to a section of a track. Specifically, I want to use the the EQ audio fx plug-in to fade in/out tracks at transitions. Any way to do so similar to assigning a volume or pan envelope?

Thanks in advance.

Automate the send so that at specific points you expose the audio to a an effect.

Thanks. But can you be a bit more specific? Is there a particular section in the user guide I can read up on? Also, does this only apply to the Pro version as I only have the Studio version.

Thanks.

So you just want to fade in ad out the track volume wise yes?

Okay, go to the track in question. Right click, and there will be a box of options comes up, much like right clicking anywhere on any program. Scroll to insert envelope, and then click volume.
A blue line will come up on the screen.

Right click on the line where you want to the fade out to start, and click Add Point. Then go to where you want it to end and right click and click Add Point. Now hold the left click down on the second 'point' you put in and drag it downwards as far as it will go.

Now play back the track and you should have inserted a volume envelope, the track should fade out. Hope this helps.

I think he was wanting to fade the track using the eq plug-in - something that a colleague of mine does quite a bit in his ambient/electronic music and is similar to how an analog delay will roll off the top end as it fades away.

In terms of efx automation features included in a specific version, check the comparison charts (somewhere) on this site.

Yes, to clarify, I do want to provide a smoother transition than just simply fade in and out. I want to control the amount of bass, mod and high cut throughout the transition - bass being the main one so that I can gradually cut the bass out of the outgoing track while bringing in bass of the incoming track - very typically mixing skills as I were to do it with mixers and decks...

BTW, I did find the comparison chart. Looks like under the mixing and editing category there are a few new features introduced since Pro 7. However, I am not convinced that my questioning feature is just newly introduced so they probably aren't what I am asking about here?

ACID Music Studio does not support FX parameter automation for DX or VST effect plug-ins. You will need to upgrade to ACID Pro 7 to automate FX plug-ins.

Thanks. I will upgrade and see if I have any follow up questions.
