Subject:Mousewheel behaviour in the track list

I use the mouse-wheel extensively within the timeline to zoom in and out, or to scroll up/down or left/right. However, I often assume the same will work if I hover over the track list - I keep thinking it'll scroll the track list up/down. I then remember that's not the case and either grab the scroll-bar or use ctrl+mouse wheel within the timeline, which of course does work.

The problem is, a bit later I'll notice that my mix doesn't sound quite right. Some of the volumes or panning have changed. It's taken a while for me to work out what was causing this but now I've realised what it is. When I've tried using the mousewheel to scroll the track list, I've inadvertently been hovering over either a volume or pan slider for a track, and without realising it my mousewheel movements have been adjusting the volume/pan slider I was hovering over. This makes sense, but unfortunately my mistake goes unnoticed and then it might be a few days later that I realise my delicately adjusted mixing levels have been pushed out and I have to do things again by ear.

I don't know what the answer is to this one. Presumably people like the mouse wheel working on volume/pan sliders in the track list, so it's not likely the behaviour will be changed to scroll instead. Maybe an option to toggle the volume/pan sliders visibility on/off could be added (I'd turn them off - because I use the new Mixing Console for this, or I'd turn them on when I needed them, then turn them off when my mix was about right and I didn't want them to change by mistake). Or a lock feature that locks the volumes/pans perhaps...

Many thanks.
