Sonic Foundry staff...

As far as I can understand this product and correct me if I am
wrong, is that it will allow me to lay down 6 different WAV
files corresponding to the 6 separate channels in Dolby
Digital's 5.1 setup. After I select these 6 different files
and assign then to whatever speaker I want, then hit the
encode button, soft encode will spit out one file that is
in the Dolby digital 5.1 format? If so, will I then be able
to burn that file onto a 650Mbt CD-R? If so, will I then be
able to put that CD into a DVD player and here what I
recorded on the correct channels?

Am I asking to much of this product?

If I am, do you know of a way I can do as I have described.

The most straightforward way to do what you want to do is to use the
coming SurCode DD software. At least they claim that the software
can do this.
More info: http://www.minnetonkaaudio.com/SurCode_Dolby_3.htm

I tried this with the SoftEncode, but there seems to be a problem - I
suspect the music bit (whatever this means), but I am still unsure.
