so i've been playing with the soft encode demo and i have a
question ... how does this thing work?

when/if i purchase this will i need special hardware to get
these files to video tape?
can i come take this file from my sound card to video tape
and play it back thru my surround sound receiver.

the demo doesnt seem very helpful in explaining itself.
maybe a manual included with it might help.

can someone who works with this program help me out?

Soft Encode is used to make Dolby Digital format files which
are primarily used in DVD authoring, film and broadcast. It is
meant to be an alternative to Dolby Digital hardware encoders.

Analog tape (VHS)cannot make use of this format. Dolby Digital is
different than Dolby Surround which is a process that can be
trasfererred via analog media. For more info on Dolby formats, see
http://www.dolby.com

Can one put these soft encoded files like 5.1 on a standard CD-R
and then play them through a receiver that has a dolby digital decoder
(through the opitcal input) either from a DVD deck that will read CD-
R's or a CD player with an optical output?
