Subject:Track view not showing

This is probably really simple..or not... when I import or drag a audio track to my track view area, I get a plus sign.. so I know it is there but ,nothing shows up in the track view area, its blank ..it does however show that I have it in the track list area and, I have it in the track properties area and can preview it.. but it is not playing when I click the project play button.. any help?
I am using 6.0

Click and drag across the track to 'paint' the event. All you've done so far is tell ACID of your intention to use the file. You haven't told it where or how much of the file to use yet.
