Subject:Track Detection/Insertion

I'm trying to convert my LP collection to digital and save it on my hard disk. It seems that the (automatic) track detection does not work very well, and I am unable to find a way to manually insert tracks to correct this problem.

Thus I cannot (easily) save my digitized recording to my hard disk as separated tracks with one save action. I have to copy and paste each track manually to a new window, edit the properties to reflect the title, artist, etc., and then save it to disk.

This is pretty cumbersome. In my previous sound program (Roxio Media Creator 7.5) I had the capability of easily inserting track separators into a sound file and then with one save action it would save each of those as separate tracks. Unfortunately that program somehow got corrupted and caused me a number of major problems so I no longer want to deal with it.

Sound Forge has some better editing capabilities with the exception of the above problem.

Am I missing something or is this a shortcoming of this software?

Thanks.

Place the cursor where you want a track break and press M to insert a marker. Make sure you also have markers at the beginning and end of the entire recording. When you've got them in the right places, go to Special / Markers & Regions / Markers to Regions. This will convert the orange markers into green regions. Now go to Tools / Export regions. This will save a separate .wav file for each region.

Thank you for the advice.

However, I must have a different version than you are talking about as I do not see the "Markers to Regions" selection under "Special" (or anywhere else), not do I see "Export Regions" under "Tools" (or anywhere else).

I have Sound Forge Audio Studio 9.0d which according to the Sony Website is the latest version.

Thanks.

Ahhhh, that feature is only in the full version of Sound Forge. Sorry about that.
