I have that same drive. To get it to works, in cd
architect, go into options. Click on select drive. Then go
into advanced and under drive type make sure MMC Compatible
ATAPI is highlighted. Next check one of the SCSI hosts.
Then look under SCSI CD-R and you should see the plextor
12/10/32a if not go back into SCSI host & check a different
one. I have this same drive with no problems so far. It
won't recognize exact write speeds though. Example, if you
want to record at 2x since the plextor burns at 1x, 4x etc,
the drive will burn the disc at 1x. If you select a speed
that the drive doesn't function in, it will burn at the
next speed down. Hope this helps as I too am very
disappointed in sonic foundry's decision of not supporting
cd architect anymore.

Thanks. It recognized the PlexWriter. I haven't tested it,
so don't know how it will work. I notice you have to select
it like this each time you start the program. I also own
Siren, and it doesn't recognize the PlexWriter 12/10/32A.

What a strange workaround, considering the drive is not
SCSI...

I too think it sucks bad that they are not updating this
product for new drives. I believe I paid $350 for it.

I was hoping to get a new Plextor drive as well. But after
coming to the site tonight to find that not only is
it not supported but that CD Architect has been
discontinued I am just furious. I have never paid so much
for a piece of software than to have it discontinued so
soon. When I bought it my CD writer was not
supported. I had to wait till it was and now that I would
like to get a upgrade to a faster one I find that the
software about 1 year later is worthless? This sucks! I
loved CD Architect but I will never buy another Sonic
Factory Product and will advise all others to do the same.

Hi David, I have a Plextor PX-W1210S (scsi 12/10/32) that
is running fine on the SCSI mmc. It connects every time I
re-open CDA including after reboots without need to re-
configure. Like everyone else this is still my favourite
cd burning program. Especially like the way you can put
all songs into one long wavfile with regions, then have CDA
use the regions for tracks. Very nice for filing your
projects later. Really would like to see SF introduce an
upgrade to this great program supporting 24 bit cdr's and
CD-extra.

Perhaps you are lucky – I’m running 2000, with the Plextor
12/10/32A drive, and this doesn’t work. I kicked down my
$300 for the product as recently as October – Obviously I
didn’t do enough research.
I guess SF has bigger problems, for a look at the press
releases indicates they are canning 40% of their staff.
Nice holiday Cheer in Mad City
