I HATE companies that orphan their products

Clearly, there are people here with unresolved problems
with CD Arc. Unfortunately, it now appears Sonic Foundry is
choosing to leave them hanging with a product that costs
hundreds of dollars. CD Arc is no longer listed under SF's
line of products. No mention has been made by a SF rep in
this forum. CD Arc has created many coasters on my HP9110.
I have waited MONTHS for an update that will apparently
never arrive. When Symantec orphaned my backup program, and
then orphaned it's "Navigator" product with Windows 95, I
vowed NEVER to buy another Symantec product, and I haven't.
If Sonic Foundry is a company that will leave me hanging
waiting for bug fixes that never arrive, I also will
abandon SF. Enjoy CD Arc 4.0g folks, that's apparently the
last version you're gonna see.

It seems sad but true. In the name of the oh holy dollar, Sonic
Foundry, like so many other companies, seems to want to appeal to the
lowest common denominator to rake in the dough.

Once a great, cutting edge organization for audio editing, production
and more, it seems the new focus of this company is toward the same
old tiresome streaming media and other online buzzwords.

Instead of providing quality product, SF has decided to market
products based on "Eye Candy" (as in Siren, an absolutely awful
program which has yet to ever work properly with the Diamond 500 MP3
player - it keeps corrupting the folder structure on the device - a
supposed prime reason for having it).

And don't get me started on Acid. When a company like SF starts
playing around with toys such as these, it is time to look elsewhere
to get serious work done, as I seem to be forced to do.

Sound Forge is still not bad, good actually, and CD Architect would
still blow everyone else out of the water if SF would have only made
the smart, right move and continued to update the product to work
with the tons of new devices and several new technologies.

But yes, I too HATE companies that orphan their products. So, with a
little tear, and great disappointment, I say farewell to CD Architect
and Sonic Foundry. I leave a once great company to the kids they seem
to want to impress.

What about all the poor users who just spent the $$ to upgrade to
Sound Forge 4.5 from 4.0 just so that 4.0g and future releases of CD
Architect would work as plug-ins.

The only way for SF to make this right is to give **at no charge** a
copy of the "new" software that they are hinting about to EVERY
REGISTERED CD ARCHITECT USER.
