There are several scripts that can put clips on the timeline per marker. However, you have to get the markers in the right place. You could do that manually tapping the M key or you can use a script to set markers at set intervals but you'd need to know what that interval is.

The plugin UltimateS does this for you. It does a ton of other stuff as well.

It is a great plugin if you need something with this much to offer.

Ultimate S and Still Motion will automatically drop the events at the markers and do pan and scan type movement along with transitions. But it will not put the markers at the beat. There is a feature that sounds like it's wants to add the events to the song, but it only spreads the events over the length of the audio event you pick...it has no clue what the beat is.

But as mentioned previously, tapping out the beat to the song using the M key is a no brainer and allows you some flexibility to adapt the beat to the music.

That said, there is a canned video application online called animoto (http://animoto.com/) that actually appears to detect the beat of the music and creates canned videos based on the song you pick and the photos you upload. They don't look half bad but once you've seen a few you get tired of the same old stuff.

Ultimate S Pro will. It's under Markers tab, called: Create Markers in every 'n' beat(s)

> There is a feature that sounds like it's wants to add the events to the song, but it only spreads the events over the length of the audio event you pick...it has no clue what the beat is.

If you are referring to the Create Markers in every 'n' beat(s) function it uses the tempo of the project. If you want you music to also match the project you should set the Import audio at project tempo under the Audio properties.

This is documented in the user's guide:

Create Markers on the Beat uses the project Beats-Per-Minute property to determine where the markers should be placed. This means that this option works in conjunction with the Vegas Project Properties. It is important to have you project set up properly before using this function or the results will be unpredictable. The “every [1] beat(s)” allows you to skip beats. For example, if you want to place markers at the down-beat of each measure in 4/4 time, you would set the beat to [4] and it will drop a marker on every 4th beat.

Yeah, placing the markers on the timeline is a no brainer and it's fairly easy for me to detect where the next good transition beat should occur as long as I set my measurement up in the properties of the project to be beats/measurements.

So far, I'm digging the Ultimate S and it seems to be what I'm looking for.

Is there anything else out there similar to Ultimate S that I should be evaluating before I buy ?
