Why does ACID Plug-In Manager indicate that my WAVES 6 is failing the VST scanner?

When on WAVES website the compatibility table indicates that ACID is compatible?

All of Gold Bundle pluggins are listed, but they just dont show up in the passed section of my VST Scan.

I am not seeing this problem.

Do you have your iLok plugged in and installed correctly?

Please describe in detail exactly what you mean by "fail".

YOu don't see them in the Plug-In Manager View?
You cannot use them?
They are not in the chooser when you try to add them?
The are in the wrong folder of the plug-in manager? What folder are they in, if any?

Thanks
Peter

Please describe in detail exactly what you mean by "fail".

What I mean is that they have been scanned but they fail the scanner test, and hence they remain in the listing but they are unavailable. I wish I could take a screen grab and show it to you.

I cant use them because I cant click, and drag them to a track.

YOu don't see them in the Plug-In Manager View?

Yes I see them but they are sort of "darkened" meaning that they are unavailable.

You cannot use them?

Well yeah -- in Sony Sound Forge I can, and in Wavelab but not in ACID.

They are not in the chooser when you try to add them?

Correct they are not in the chooser.

The are in the wrong folder of the plug-in manager? What folder are they in, if any?

Darkened? I don't know how this happen unless they are in the failed or unavailable folder.

When I asked for folder, I did not mean where on your disk but where in the Plug-in Manager view.

If you right click on one of them, what does the context menu present you?

Have you tried rescanning VSTs from the Plug-in Manager tool bar?

Yes they are in the failed folder.
Yes I have repeatedly tried to re-scan the VST folder from the tool bar, and yet to no avail they dont show up, in the passed section of the pluggin manager view.

Have you tried selecting "Rescan" from the right click context menu of the failed item?

Yes I have done this repeatedly.

But ACID and even Vegas wont see any of them, but i will complain about that a later time, after I fix this issue with ACID.

I called Waves and the tech support agent said that they are supported and will work correctly but he suggested that reinstall ACID.

My Ilok is in, the driver is up to date and I am using latest installer of the v6 series from Waves.

You have tried everything I can think of.

We are looking at the problem. As soon as I know anything further, I will post here.

I have done everything I can to get my ACID 7.0 and Vegas 8 to properly recognize my Waves Gold Bundle.
I have properly installed the Waves Bundle.
I rescan my VST pathway repeatedly and it still does not work.

My I-Lok dongle is properly installed; I am running the latest version of the I-Lok Installers.

The VST pathway is as follows:

c:\programs\vst pluggins
and located in there is the waves VST pluggin which should point to the other pluggins which constitute the Gold Bundle.

Incidentally the pluggins appear properly in Sound Forge 9.0 and Wavelab 6.1 and even Reaper 2.58 (demo version), Sonar 8 (demo version).

All of the pluggins which constitute the Gold Bundle are listed in the failed directory within the ACID Pluggin Manager interface.

I am speculating that the scanning engine is time limited and hence if they fail the qualification process which I suppose is requires verification of my licenses via the inserted I-Lok key, and then the pluggins will be deposited into the failed directory.

This situation is urgent, because I really need to have a tightly integrated system of generators and processors. I am not new to PC’s and VST’s etc, but this issue is preventing me from relying on ACID as an end to end production tool, because I need to have access to these processors. Furthermore I will be obtaining additional Waves Processors and these tools need to work.

The following step was taken...

Complete these steps:
Make sure Acid is closed.
Go to the Start Menu and hit Run.
Type: regedit in the run prompt. Hit Enter to execute the command.
You have entered the registry.
Delete the DX Cache folder from under:
Using Acid 4 or 5: HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Sonic-foundry > Acid > 4.0 / 5.0.
Using Acid 6.0 or higher - HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Sony Media Software > Acid > 6.0 (or the current version).

And yet I am not having any success.

Just curious - if you have AP6 still installed, do you experience the problem with it?

Using Acid 6.0 or higher - HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Sony Media Software > Acid > 6.0 (or the current version).

ACID does not store plug-in information in the registry as it use to.

If you want to wipe out the scanned info, you need to locate and delete the file:

acidpro.plugincache.xml

This is located here:

C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Sony\ACID Pro\7.0

You will also notice the file

vst_grovel.log.

Delete this also and then start ACID. This will force a complete rescan of all of your plug-ins.

If after this, you still are not seeing the version 6 plugins, email me and we can start to look at what is in the vst_grovel.log file.

MAC-MONEY to the rescue!!!!

THANK YOU SO MUCH -- my commitment to ACID is 100% solid, this DAW works so well for my production requirements.

Peter and Mac both stepped in and really got personal with my issue and now the issue has been resolved. The entire Waves Gold Bundle is resident and all of my tools work the way I need them too.

Thank you SCS for having such a brilliant team of people.
