Subject:using video and multichannels

On the back of the soundforge 9.0e box there is a photo of a video window open with 6 channels displayed under it.

I want to simply take several of my music files and crossfade them to go with an indusrtial video project and add a few SFX on top. Normally I do this in Cubase, but as the photo does appear on the box, how do you do it in Soundforge? And if not...why not?

The manual doesn't mention anything on this particular use of using video and multichannels in tandem. I suspect it may not be possible in the current version.

Also can you implement a keyboard short cut for "normalizing". For example Wave Lab uses the "n" key of the keyboard. Speaking of "n", according to the shortcut indication on the noise plug-in it should correspond to bringing that plugin up. Yet it doesn't. What needs to be done to enable this feature?

The picture on the box refers to a Multichannel .wav file; SF can open these newer wav files (where the wav file contains say a 5.1 format); however SF is not a multichannel application in the sense of being able to lay many unrelated files against eachother .... you need Vegas or some other application to do that. Cubase should be able to open pictures.... not so familiar with that, but I have Cubase LE4 here which seems to work fine with DV-AVI pictures

Thanks Chris, indeed Cubase does do that, and I have been using it, but sitting in Starbucks on a Beautiful day well, I'd rather user Soudnforge instead of the bloody dongle that comes with Cubase 5. Thanks again and all the best!

The Sony multitrack video / audio application is Vegas. With all the great specials going on right now it might be a good time to consider taking the plunge.

What versions of Vegas support multichannel WAV files? Apparently Vegas 6 does not. :-(

Whether or not Vegas 6 will import BWF poly files I don't recall. I do recall importing BWF 2-trk. files from my SD-722TC though. In Vegas 6, 7 ,8 try "File> Import> BWF"
In any case there are many free utilities that extract the poly files.

Vegas 7 was the first version to introduce import of multichannel (> 2) wave.
