Subject:Why do certain loops have a flange-type effect

This is in Acid Music Studio 7. Some loops in my project have a flange-type sound to them. I have no effects applied anywhere which would cause this type of sound. Any idea why this is happening and how to fix this annoying behavior? Thanks.

It could be because their embedded tempo is so different than your project tempo. You can't expect a 200bpm loop to sound right in a 70bpm project, or vice versa. Acid is great at stretching loops, but there are limits.

Hey thanks for the reply. No, actually the loops are close to their original tempo.

Did you alter the pitch?

Is the original loop definitely flange free? Some loops are deliberately that way ....

Open them in a program other than Acid to check.

The original loops were created in Sound Forge and are perfect in SF with no flange or any other effects.

However, I've noticed that the ones that give me trouble are usually vocal material only without any, or a very limited amount of instruments. They are 8 to 16 beats long and sync fine with the rest of my Acid project. It's just that they have this weird flangy sound, as I described.

Is there some setting I can adjust with stretching properties or something to try to improve the audio quality of these types of loops?
