Can you record streaming audio in SF? If so, how? Thanks, Jim |

The version shouldn't matter. If you're using a typical consumer-grade sound card there should be a setting in the sound card's mixer control panel to record "What U Hear" or "PC Output" or "Stereo Mix" or something like that. Select that, and then Sound Forge can record anything you can hear from your computer speakers. If you're using a professional audio interface then you may have to physically route an output back into an input channel. |

I am still not getting in audio into SF. The mixer shows the SF Icon, I have changed the sound device to everything shown but still no audio. Any ideas? Jim |

Are you looking at the windows mixer control for your sound card? Double-click the speaker icon in the task bar, choose options / properties / recording. In that mixer choose the output channel as the recording input. |

When clicking on the speaker icon, there are no options like that, just the faders and the option to choose a device like digital. I am using Vista. Jim |

When I go into device manager and sounds the recording tab says no audio device is installed, but it is playing back. Jim |

Some sound cards require something to be plugged into the mic or line in port in order for those ports to show up as a recording device. My sound card doesn't have the "What-U-Hear" option so if I have need for something like this I just physically connect the line-out to the line-in and record that way. It might not be the prettiest option but it works. |

In Vista the What U Hear option can be disabled, probably because of some imagined DRM thing. On some sound devices it can be re-enabled. Start with this thread and see where it gets you. http://www.driverheaven.net/audio-general-technical-discussion/130879-windows-vista-recoding-what-you-hear-how.html There are other places with pretty much the same info if you do a Google search. |
