Subject:Acid 7a Crashes with Amplitube 2 - Re-visited

Hello Peter

I have continued to have some crashes with Acid 7a as well as 6 when using Amplitube 2 as insert effect and Assignable Effect. In most instances I was using the UAD-1 Card, but it still crashed when not using it. I was thinking that it might be the UAD-1 card, but I don't think so. I reported this in previous posts for both Acid 6 and 7a. Some other users also reported crashes using Amplitube 2. I have the most recent update from IK and I've also contacted IK about this problem. You had asked for a crash dump and it is below. Let me know if you need any other info. Thanks for looking into this one, and hopefully you can dig up some info or a fix if you can reproduce anything? Many thanks. Cheye.

Unfortunately this is telling me that Amplitube 2 crashed.

I would send this information along to IK. Perhaps they have a log they keep when they crash internally.

I will attempt to contact IK.

Thanks Peter I would really appreciate you contacting them, since your knowledge of the software and possible causes in much greater than mine.

We will definitely do what we can. There is no assurance that IK will respond as we are not a customer. It helps when one of their customers brings it to their attention.

You probably know more about Amplitube than I do.

Do you have a consistant way to reproduce the crash? I tried it and had no problems, but I was probably not using it the way you are.

Peter

The problem is I cannot reproduce by using Amplitube in any specified ways. It is worse when I use Amplitube as Assignable Effects. It does crash with various combinations of plugs both sony and third party, as well as soft synths. I wish I could reproduce the crash the same way each time but it doesn't work that way. It is obvious that the crashes are related to IK Amplitube 2. I have also contacted IK and they can't reproduce it. Other users have had problems using it as well.

See what you can do if you call IK??

Thanks

cheye

I just wanted to add that I use Guitar Rig 3 with no problems at all in Acid 7a. I can always use just Guitar Rig but Amplitube 2 does have some nice simulations, tones and possibilities. I'd love to have both working well!

IK has been contacted. No promises on whether they will help or not.

Create a separate output bus for each guitar to use Amplitude and set your effects here instead of individual track effects. Amplitude is much more stable in an output bus than an individual track.
