AVCHD preview has no video, only sound

I just did a fresh install of Vegas 8.0c on a new Windows XP Professional machine.

When I single click on a MTS file in the explorer window for a preview, I get sound but the picture is black.

When I put the clip on the timeline and play it, it works fine & I get video & audio.

What could be wrong?

With my previous XP install and my second editing machine, the preview always was fine. It sounds like a codec issue, but I never installed a AVCHD codec for those machines.

Please advise.
Jeff

Update/additional info: I have not installed Ulead MF+ and the HD Power Pack on this machine yet. Formerly that was present. Maybe a codec was installed by that? If so, where can I find and install a AVCHD codec for Vegas?

When the Show Video Monitor button in the Trimmer window is selected, video that you preview from the Vegas Explorer and Media Manager windows is played back in the Trimmer. Because the Trimmer is placed in the same window dock as the Explorer and Media Manager, you will not see your video preview. To preview Explorer and Media Manager video, you can drag the Trimmer to a new dock group, or you can turn off the Show Video Monitor button to preview in the Video Preview window.
