I plan to re-install Sound Forge 7 to my new computer and would like to save all the customization I've done to the Sound Forge toolbars from my old computer to my new one when install Sound Forge on my new machine. I've had to do this a couple of times, and on each reinstallation I must spend lots of time re-customizing my toolbars, in additon to re-registering, etc. I'm not talking about presets, which I know can be saved using the preset manger, but the customization that can be done by clicking Options>Preferences>Toolbars>Customize. There was a post on this forum a while back in which someone asked the same question and the only reply he received was, "I don't know. Good question." C'mon folks, surely, since all my customized toolbars and other settings appear when I start the program, there has to be a location where those settings are stored and it should be possible to migrate them to another machine. Does anyone have a solution for this? Thanks in advance! |

I posted the above over two years ago. Here I am in the same situation again, re-installing Sound Forge 8 and there has been not one reply. I must say, as much as I like working with Sound Forge, this doesn't leave a good taste for good old Sony. |

As far as I know, there is no way to save the layout. I, for one, would like to see this kind of option available in the next SF. |

I think you may be able to save all toolbar layouts, custom presets, and app settings by exporting the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sony Creative Software\Sound Forge Audio Studio\ and importing it to the new PC after SF has been installed. However, be aware there could be possible glitches if your new PC is set up differently and has different audio hardware, so back up the original key first. |

Yes to this being a feature in the next release, if there is one. For now, I'm stuck with taking a screenshot of my current layout for future reference. |
