Subject:Acid Pro 7 does not save records?!?!

Just noticed this the other day...

I arm a track to record from mic.

I start to record the track, i watch as it records on the screen. Everything appears normal.

I then click 'stop'. It asks if i want to save the recorded track. I click yes.

And, nothing. Just a blank track. When i go into the file it saves the .wav in, the track (no matter how long i record) is 0:00. But it will display it as 3mb or 9mb (depending on the recording duration). Atleast the size seems accurate but, why is my wav. zero seconds long!

What the friggin' hell is going on?!?! I've been at this for HOURS.

I have used Acid for years now and have never had this problem. Just the random crashes like everyone else, makes me wonder why i even still use this product. Anyhow, I updated all my drivers and such.

My system is Windows Vista Ultimate 64
My sound card is just an onboard Realtek High Definition.

I can record midi no problem and do everything else no problem. I can even render all my tracks (midi, mp3 and wav. clips from sound packs) into a .wav. I just cant record it.

Please for the love of god, someone HELP ME!!!

I'm also using Vista 64 sp1. [all updates]

I've never tried using my onboard realtek souncard. I use a echo audiofire 4 with no problems.

1)What realtek drivers are you using? [version]

2)Beatmapped or oneshot recording?

3)Asio or wave classic driver or anything else?

4)Have you setup a recording folder? If so where?

5)Your saying it's blank yes? If you press play do you hear any audio or is just the wave image missing?

6)Have you tried a uninstall/reinstall? [try downloading it again too just to make sure it's not a bad download]

Im using Vista 64bit sp1 and the Realtek drivers are the most current.

I tried recording using Microsoft sound Mapper, Windows classic wave driver, and direct sound surround mapper.

The recording folder is the default Sony Acid 7 projects folder. I have tried moving them to a different folder but that hasnt helped either.

Ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I even installed an older version of Acid 6 pro but that does the same thing.

When i record from an outside source (mic, guitar) the wave pattern is formed as i record. Everything looks like it should. i click stop, save. And then where my track should be is just an empty box. Nothing will play. When i search for it its zero seconds long. Even if i record for 5 min.

The strange thing is i can record live from any device with other programs no problem. For some reason Acid pro 7 just decided that it didnt like me.

Ive searched around on the web and found one other person with the same problem but, he hasnt found an answer.

Now i would just use another program, and probably will, but i have too many songs i've composed with acid that i just dont feel like starting over with in another program. I would love to find a solution to this so i can record into my songs! Seems like such an easy task to do but, what the heck is going on?

Just figured out how to fix my problem... Reformat my hard disks and start over from scratch! Yup, had to reinstall Windows, Sony Acid, and all my VST pluggins.

Would of liked to have found an easier solution but, i grow impatient when i cant use my 300 dollar program and sony help lines are off through the weekend.

I also fixed a problem i forgot to mention earlier. For some reason my Wave Hammer pluggin was in demo mode too. Beats the heck outta me. But now thats back to normal too.

Sometimes thats all it takes. It's a really big fix I know. The best advice I could give is for you to install your OS with all the updates...all your software...then "ghost" an image to a disk so that if ever you have a issue it's a quick reinstall away.

Your not going to believe this but.... The problem still persists!

But, after care full thinking, and only a few programs to choose from that I installed after i reinstalled windows.... It dawned on me...

Kaspersky internet security....

Yes thats right. My Kaspersky internet security program was screwing around with my sony acid.

Who the hell would of thought. So, whenever i want to record in Acid for the time being, i have to disable my internet protection. What a HOOT!

So if you've been paying attention and have the same problem as I... Try disabling your internet security before all else. Especially reinstalling Windows. Chances are if you have Kaspersky, thats whats f*ck!ng everything up.

Is it on a virgin track, or are you recording into an exist ing (maybe very short) track - in which case it may be under and existing event and simply need drawing out the event end.

Same Problem... Windows XP.
I actually recorded 6 clips (four tracks) from mic.
On the 7th and subsequent tries... nothing! A blank clip. Even when I go to the folder where the clip resides it is 4705 in size, and when I open it to Media Player... nothing.
It seems to be a problem with ACID, because I, too, have Kaspersky yet I was able to record the first 6 clips without incident.

What gives, is right! ???

FOUL UP! Er, I mean follow up!

Well, thanks to Rusty, I disabled Kaspersky and voila!... I am able to record again.
However...(drum roll, please) how is it I was able to make 6 recordings prior?

I have reported this here, and I will notify Kaspersky.

Thanks again, Rusty!
