HELP! MY VIDEOS INTERMITTENTLY RENDERING BLANK

clearvu wrote on 2/3/2009, 7:32 PM
I have a VISTA 64 operation system runing with 8 GIG of RAM (Intel Core 2 Extreme) CPU.

For the life of me I can not get Vegas 8.1 to render ALL the files on the timeline. If I have only a few clips, it works, but when there are many, some clips will get rendered and others come out blank / black. If I watch it being rendered I see when it happens and the frames get rendered very fast, which is obvious because the program is ignoring the clip are out comes a blank section.

I have fiddled with the Dynamic RAM preview and rendering thread settings and nothing corrects the problem.

I have even deleted the problem clip, re-added it to the timeline and while that clip may start rending properly, another clip takes its place and renders blank.

Any idea how to fix this problem? It is driving me nuts! I've done searches can not seem to find any help.

UPDATE;

I've tried version 8.0c and while I did manage to get it to work properly, I know that it is NOT a 64 bit version of the program.

So I assusme that the problem is ralated to VISTA 64. Maybe it has something to do with RAM?

I really would like to use 8.1. Has anybody else experienced this problem?

It may be helpful to know the source of the media files. Are they from the camcorder listed in your profile?

I've updated the profile. While there were certain things needing to be adjusted, the Camcorder is the same, namely, PANASONIC PV-DV953

Bumping message in hopes that "bops (Sony TS)" responds, or anyone else for that matter.

Thanks

*sigh*
You're going to hate me for saying this but I am some what happy to hear this. I have been going nuts over the past few days dealing with this. My thumnails in the TL went red...Did yours do this too?
I have been posting on many forums and contacting tech support (twice) about this and many other problems (have not heard back but will post here when I do).
I finally gave up and downloaded the 8.0c update and am now running that instead of 8.1. So far today (since 9am PST) i have not had that problem, I am thrilled! I would rather use 8.1 on my vista x64 Notebook but just can't becuase of this and more problems.

Please report any progress,

Thanx

Well it's good to hear that I am not the only one dealing with "blank" sections of renderings.

In regards to your question about "red thumbnails", I did not notice. Perhaps because other iritating issues got my attention.

If I had theproject still on hand I would try it again on Vegas 8.1 and pay attention to the TL issue, but I completed the project using 8.0c instead.

What is most frustrating is that I purchased a powerhouse system because Vegas was available for Vista 64, only to find out that I can't trust it. Annoyed? Unless Sony quickly fixes this bug, I am more than annoyed because every month that passes means that I could have spent much less money on the hardware I purchased.

Did a forum search for, "blank render" and it seems that Vegas version 8.1 does have a bug when running under Vista 64 since it came out as people were experiencing it since then.

I've resorted back to version 8.0c and hope that Sony gets a 64 bit version of Vegas fix very very soon.

Sorry... I wish I had a solution for you right away, but alas I do not.

I would recommend submitting the issue through our support channel so that we can consult with Dev/SQA. We'll do our very best to get it resolved for you as quickly as possible.
