CD Text problem

drbam wrote on 2/8/2009, 2:07 PM
Using 5.2d - although the content is all entered properly and CD Text is selected correctly for the burn operation, apparently CD text is not being written to the CD. I checked the disc in WMP and Nero on my PC and also with iTunes on my mac. Nothing!

I'm using a Plextor burner, Taiyo Yunden media, and so on. Anyone have a clue as to why this is not working properly?

Thanks!

What WMP shows is not CD-Text but the CDDB info off the internet. Not sure about iTunes or Nero.

Try them in a CD player that has CD-TEXT.

WMP won't read CD Text. However there is a 3rd party plug in that will do the trick. I don't have time right now to find it again but, it does work.
Nero will also read CD Text. However it isn't obvious, at least as of version 7. Goto 'Copy CD' then choose the 'Copy CD Audio Tracks' option. At that point you should see all of your CD tracks with CD text. ( IF you select all of them and add them to your project, instead of extracting (unless you want to) choose the Nero label printer and you'll have a CD label (almost) ready to print).

Thanks Geoff and CBG. I'll see if I can locate a CD player that displays CD text. I probably have half dozen players around here but none that does this - including our cars which are fairly new. I was certain that itunes read CD text but perhaps not. I check Nero per you instructions and see what I find. I've only got a "lite" version that came with an external DVD burner and I rarely use Nero for anything.

Haa - CD-TEXT is standard and not invented by Apple, so I doubt that it would be supported !

I am surprised a car CD from last 3 years or so t do CD-TEXT - are you sure it's not a configurable option ( Display | Mode on my Sony Xplod).

I have a 2006 Honda Pilot with a pretty nice system that does show some content for music tracks on XM radio but apparently not for CDs. However, will double-check this.

Thanks!

Thanks again you guys. I realized I had a player at my office in town that read CD text and it worked fine there so I guess my concern that CDA wasn't functioning properly was incorrect. I'm totally surprised that WMP and iTunes don't display CD text though. Oh well . . .
