Subject:Problem WAV > MP3 in MONO 256kbps

Hi,

since my lame is not working...and I dont get it to work..

It seems still to be impossible to convert a mono .wav file in a 256 or 320 MONO mp3-file. As soon as I select mono in the setup, 256 or higher is not available. I can only do stereo-mp3 in 256 and higher. But I dont want that. Its about voice files..

Any Top Ideas? I am not able to properly install that Lame thing..
thanx,

klabue

Lame is included in the freeware CDex and gives you the opportunities to convert existing wave files to mp3 with all of the options available in a (somewhat) friendly GUI.

I don't know if even that will let you encode mono mp3 higher than 160kbs, though. You will have to experiment. 160kbs mono is exactly the same quality as 320kbs stereo, for all relevant purposes.

And for voice files, 160Kbps is probably well more than sufficient.

I agree.
And for archives of meetings and such, 64kbs mono works fine for my purposes and saves a lot of space, too.
