Subject:Recording vocals w/ ACID MS 7.0a or Sound Forge 8?

Which is better to record vocals into? I've been trying with both. With SF, it's easy to get the recording, edit it and put effects on it but it doesn't seem like I can take that and put it into a track(s) on ACID MS 7.0a, can I? (I can't copy/paste) However, I can record onto ACID MS 7.0a and import/edit in SF. But I would like to be able to do it the other way around, since SF is more designed for that sort of thing it seems. What do you guys do/think? Thanks.

While you can certainly "record" your vocal in any app that can record - workflow wise - you should be doing your takes in Acid Pro and (IF edits are necessary) then simply right click on a selected take and choose Edit In Soundforge (Or similar) from the menu that appears. Make your edits, save and your changes are instantly reflected in the Acid project. Least that is what I would do.

The entire Sony app suite has a nice interconnect between it's "multitrack" players like Acid and Vegas to use Soundforge as a Edit stage.

Cheers,

VP

Which one to use? The answer is ... yes.

If you do want to record in Sound Forge you'll have to save the recordings, preferably in .wav files. You can then add those files in ACID by dragging them to the timeline and painting them, just like you would with any other sounds or loops.

Why-ever would you want to not record your vocal tracks in Acid ?

If they are ever going to be anything other that a single track/single non-comped take, then SF is not the appropriate recording app to use. If you are going to end up in Acid, start in Acid.

But if you did record in SF for whatever reason, , there should be no reason why you cannot load those tracks into Acid - basic functionality.

Thanks all for your help and responses. Is there much difference with recording with and into ACID Music Studio 7.0a as opposed to the regular version of ACID PRO 7? Is it the same quality and just has fewer features? Asking because I have the *lower* version of ACID. Thanks again.

The sound quality should be identical. The differences between the applications are, as you say, the facilities available (and the bundled software included with AP).
