Subject:Sound Forge and AP7 Integration Question

Hi,

So I'm wanting to edit some individual tracks in a multi-track AP7 project. I know how to get the file into SF by highlighting the file I want to edit by choosing the "edit in Sound Forge 8(in my case)" option. SF8 pops-up. I edit the file.

Now the question is how does one re-integrate the file back into AP7 and have it show up in exactly the same spot in the project? If I just "save" the file in SF it will automatically be replaced in the AP7 project, correct?

What if I want to "save as"? I'm not sure I want to rewrite the original file in case I change my mind.

Doesn't saving the edited file straight-up name-wise, without changing the name, rewrite the original file?

How does one re-integrate a "save as" file back into AP7 in exactly the same spot as the original?

Thanks. :)

Duh, I see now this is actually covered in the Help Section!

"Save as" files can be Replaced via the Clip Properties window. Also, one can create a new track.

I'm sorry, but could you explain how this is done more clearly? Thanks very much.

If you haven't chosen Sound Forge as an Editing Application in Acid already you do this:

Options > Preferences > Editing > Editing Application. Browse for SF.exe on your hard drive. You can add other programs as well if you like.

Then with a project open you can click (highlight) a recorded clip, then:

Tools > Edit In Sound Forge (this option should now be in the Tools drop down menu) >click on that and SF will open automatically with that clip opened.

Edit your clip. If you simply "save" the changed clip will automatically be replaced in Acid. If you want to save the original incase you're not sure you'll like your changes, "save as" by renaming (I usually do something like "guitar SF edit 01-19-09"). If you "save as" you need to point Acid to the new file.

You do this by:

Right clicking the clip > Clip Properties > Replace File (on top right) > choose newly edited file.

If anyone has a better way please chime in as I'm sort of new the procedure myself. :)

Also, see "Edit in Sound Forge" and "Replacing a Track" topics in the Help Section Menu.

Hi,

I was wondering how to edit a media clip from Acid (6d) in SF 8 without changing the tempo and pitch. Do I have something set wrong? SF 8 works seamlessly with Cubase without making any special setting, but not Acid. I quit using Acid altogether becasue of this. Does anyone know why this is the case?

Thanks
