Please help me! I can't take this anymore. I finally have a project that could take me up a notch and my computer is still freaking out.

The audio drivers in Vista keep switching Acid 7 to microsoft sound mapper! I have tried everything to stop this and nothing helps. I am using a m box2 pro and it keeps changing the drivers that I loaded for it as well. I am going crazy here! Please help me!

What do you mean by this?

Can you list step by step exactly what you are doing that conistently repoduces the problem?

Hello Peter,

I can't figure it out. I can be working on a mix in acid 7 and all of the sudden it starts glitching (audio and visual) the next thing I know the audio drops out. I go to preferences and all the settings have reverted back to microsoft sound mapper. I change them back to m box 2 pro and click apply and shut it down. Sometimes when I reopen the program it works for about 30 minutes and then it happens all over again.

Acid keeps crashing over and over again. I am using a uad2, kit core player and rob papen's predator/ blue vst's.

I rendered the vsts to audio tracks thinking this would help, but it doesn't...

I cannot find anyway to assign vista to the main sound card that came with my computer.

I really don't understand why vista keeps changing the driver for my m box 2! I have to keep going in the device driver section and changing it back to the didgidesign driver!

Something to try:

Make sure that you do not permit Vista to use the MBox as its default audio device.

OKay so I have now figured out that when I insert an audio track thats when everything stops working!

I have disabled my computers sound card and I thought that would help the issue... it didn't.

If I elect to insert a audio track acid immediately stops working and looks a shade of faded white.

If I forget to arm a midi track and hit record it adds a audio track and immediatley locks up. When I shut acid down and then reload it ... my preferences no longer offer m box 2 as a choice only microsoft sound mapper and a wave mapper.
Can you help me fix this problem now? Do I need to pay you guys?
Is there a way to delete vistas default driver choices?

HELP!

the choice of driver in the audio preferences tab in Acid is not Vista's default driver choice. it's an acid preference.

what it sounds like is the mbox 2 driver is crashing, which is taking down acid. when acid comes back, the mbox 2 audio device is probably unavailable (because it crashed) and therefore is unavailable.

did you look for a newer driver?

have you tried using it in any other program? for example, have you tried to record audio in sound forge or maybe another DAW (you can download trials of several other ones). It sounds like it may not be acid specific.

I recorded a vocal take in pro tools 8 today and its worked perfectly.
I booted acid in hopes but was let down again. No matter which way I turn I have to spend money I don't have right now. This really isn't fair. I keep getting the same story from tech support here and at the other dealers support site. Nobody is responsible! I guess I bought acid 7 for nothing.

The techs here keep saying they are running acid and using a mbox 2 pro well are they running vista? If so why can't I get the same asio driver?

This is way past ridiculous.

Have you contacted our Tech Support directly? While I try to help out here, this is not tech support. I have been unable to reproduce your problem.

Please tell me EXACTLY how your system is set up for audio.

EXACLTY what is Vista using as its default sound device?

Why did you disable your systems on board audio?

Did you ever try the suggestions I have been giving your? Could your tell me exactly what you did and what the results were?

I would still recommend that you contact our technical support dept.

Peter

Plenty of people with your exact same scenario have no problem whatsoever. So you really need to figure out what is happening.

How is this for an idea: For Acid to lose your driver, Acid may be being started when your M-Box 2 driver was not active ( device not connected ?). Acid would then revert to the default ( MS Mapper) device. Next time you start Acid, even with the M-Box now connected, it will set on the previous 'successful' device.

First let me say I have completely disable my original sound card and this shouldn't matter, since I am only running acid and protools on this system. I have the "sounds" turned off in vista.

I have rebooted acid and protools 8 and it worked for about 5 hours.

Vista is set to use the digidesign 1/2 output...

Of course I try your advice thats why I keep writing back here it's not fixing my problem.

I called your tech supoort the 2 days ago and I was told that I was on my own. He told me that it should be working. (I tried not to laugh)

I can call tech support but can I get someone who knows how to fix this issue without passing me back to microsoft or digidesign?

This has been going on for a month now. I am so mad that I keep getting the same response... no one else has this problem! Well okay can you send me their computer since mine doesn't work?

Ley me simply say... if this wasn't a problem I wouldn't be asking for help. Why does everyone respond with comments like... lots of people are using the same set up and don't have your problem. Thats just GREAT! I am so glad that everyone elses having a great experience.. I'm not!

I am investigating the problem - really.

I don't have your exact DIGI hardware, but I have something close. As soon as I have some more information for you, I will respond here.

Thanks
Peter

Hey Peter,

Problem solved!
I am now using Cubase!

What a breath of fresh air.. I read another persons post that they were using a MR 816 csx with a CC121 controller and I thought sounds good to me!

I couldn't be happier and now Acid 7 is too.

BTW - If a user is running Protools 8 LE and Acid 7 and the drivers are acting up its because the drivers that are installed with PT 8 LE wont work with the asio drivers Acid uses.. you have to use the stand alone asio driver 7.4 from digidesign and that only works if Pro tools is not installed on your system. FYI. Take care.
