I just got ACID Music Studio 7 and cannot hear the track that I am recording. I get VU meters. I get wave data on the track and it wll play back once it is recorded but will not allow me to hear that track while armed to record or while recording. I am using M-Audio 410 Firewire. I am about to return the software because as of now it is useless to me. I can monitor while recording with Pro Tools and with Adobe Audtion but not with ACID. ACID does recognize my M-Audio interface.

Please Help.

How are you set up exactly? (Include the chain, like instrument connections, headphone connection, etc.)

By default, ACID does not have software input monitoring on. (I'm suspecting that software input monitoring is on in Pro Tools and Audition.) Even then, you're better off letting the hardware do it for you unless you want to hear any software effects on a recorded track.

i don't know what you mean that acid doesn't recognize your 410. i have used acid with 3 m-audio interfaces: FW400, fast track ultra, and the profire 2626. they all work with acid and show up as asio drivers in the audio device tab of the preferences dialog.

to monitor, there's a little yellow button on the track strip. you may want to grow the height of the strip to see the button. it has a drop down menu that lets you put input monitoring off, on, or auto (monitors only when the track is armed). this is useful if you want to hear your track with effects. however, the last poster is right. the m-audio fw 410 will let you monitor your inputs directly. if your buffer is big enough that you have latency, this might be the only way to go.

ACID Music Studio does not support Audio input record monitoring. Only ACID Pro does.

You will have to use your audio hardware's mixer to monitor the input of your recording externally.

See the ACID Product Family Comparison here for a full comparision of the feature differences between ACID product versions.
