You need to mask it and then adjust it to match the rest of the frame.
That sounds easy but could either fail or require a lot of keyframing (i.e. very time consumming). If the shadow is deep you'll get caught out by noise as you increase the gain in that part of the frame. Even if you can live with the noise the difference between where the shadow was and the rest of the frame could well give the game away.

Moral to this is, always make a heroic effort to fix things before they get to the camera.

You could take some clean footage and superimpose it over the shadow.

Whether this will work depends on your shot. I suppose you'll get a better response if you can post a few stills (or a movie) from your shot, and whether or not the camera moves.
