I've often wondered this. Presumably not worth going over the limit of what FLV encoders will utilise - whatever that is.

Meanwhile there is googling "FLV encoder audio settings" to see what is possible. What is practical or usual is really what we need to know, and the filesize imlications.

Hope somebody can give you a precise answer !

As YouTube now accepts High Definition files rendering to a high definition H.264 codec would be the best option for vision.

As far as the audio is concerned the audio side of the FLV is MP3 encoded.

Minimum quality to try would be 128Kb 44.1KHz 16bit stereo, though if you have the option for 196Kb that would offer better results.

I don't use the packaged encoders with Vegas for FLV or SWF encoding I opt for Flix Pro 8 which gives a greater range of options. Of course if you upload other formats YouTube is going to re-encode it into flash itself.
