It would be great if there were a concept of saving a file as a template so that every time you started up a new project you could pick a file to start from--but all future saves would be saved to a new file. (Just like MS Office does.) Is this on the radar? I'm creating these now, but it's often easy to forget to Save As and I end up overwriting my template with the beginnings of a song I used the template to create. |

Nice idea. Think I'll try that too. You might try write-protecting the template files, so that if you do accidentally try to overwrite, the system won't let you. |

In Windows Explorer, right-mouse-button click on the filename, choose Properties, put a checkmark in the Read-only box. |

I have been requesting exactly this for years, for Acid and Vegas. The workaround is to save a several 'default projects' in a specific location and mark them as Read Only. The drawback is that you have to remember to reset the project file paths, and Save As a new filename in a new location each time you do a new song/project. I would LOVE to be able to save a 'Project Template' ( ACP or VEP ?!!) that when called up requests a new ACD or VEG project filename and path. It would aslo be kind of handy to be able to load projects from each app in the other, simply dropping ( or 'putting on reserve') any unsupported aspects. Especially while Acid glacks all the audio editing aids and functionality yhat Vegas has. geoff |

Geoff: I absolutely agree with everything you said! Interestingly, only yesterday while working up a project in AP6, I was thinking, "wouldn't it be incredible if I could just render the tracks and then open the file in Vegas to finish mixing, editing, etc. What a dream that would be! Happy Holidays . . . |

Hmmm... I didn't think of making them read only. Good idea. For now I just have made a backup in case I forget and hit SAVE on a template file with project data. |

> I have been requesting exactly this for years, for Acid and Vegas. For Vegas you can use Ultimate S Pro to do this. The Setup tab allows you to create project templates from scratch or import an existing project as a template. In addition to tracks you can set up defaults buses, routing, and FX and recall the whole thing as a single preset. If ACID had a Script API I could do the same for ACID. ~jr |
