Subject:Removing vocals

I searched and could not find any previous answers...how do I attempt to remove vocals from a stereo track? A client brought in a track they recorded sometime ago and wishes to re-record the vocals and keep the background instruments. I know this is a shot in the dark, but thought I would ask anyway.

If you'll do a search on these forums for "remove vocals" or "vocal removal" you'll get lots of responses.
